In March 2018, during the 37th session of the World Organization of the UN Council on Human Rights, the popular procession “Immortal Regiment” received international recognition.
Moscow State University of Humanities and Economics hosted the International Movement “Immortal Regiment” on April 25, 2018.
Prior to the Victory Day celebration, MGGEU was awarded the right to hoist the first international flag of the “Immortal Regiment” to the peak of the University flagstaff. The flag of the “Immortal Regiment” as a symbol of the people’s international movement was handed over to the University by Nikolay Zemtsov, the Council of the Regional Patriotic Public Organization “Immortal Regiment – Moscow” chairman.
“The People’s Movement “Immortal Regiment”, which began as the Procession of the descendants of the soldiers-victors has already turned into an international unity, a unique form of perpetuating the memory of the Great Victory,” the rector of MGGEU Vagif Deyrushevich Bayramov said in his complimentary address to the students and lecturers. And today, in honor of our ancestors, we will plant the international flag of the procession “Immortal Regiment” on the flagstaff of our University, paying tribute to the memory of their heroic acts.
The complimentary speech was given by Sergei L. Kandybovich, the Chairman of the Federal National-Cultural Autonomy of the Belarusians of Russia. Stressing the importance of this event, he noted that “the Immortal Regiment movement not only got on the rostrum, not only it means a lot to people around the globe, but is perceived by the world community as a very necessary and timely action that can resist the evil and is extremely needed by today’s world society “.
Nikolay Georgievich Zemtsov, Chairman of the Council of the RPPO “Immortal Regiment – Moscow”, member of the Education Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the State Duma member urged to hold the memory of the heroes sacred, defend the historical truth about the events of the Great Patriotic War for the future generations and repulse any attempts to rewrite history.
In commemoration of this event, the honorable guests were entitled to hoist the international “Immortal Regiment” colours.
