Despite the fact that the pandemic has gone off the agenda, the risk of infection with the COVID-19 virus is relatively high. In the last week alone, 6,785 people fell ill in Russia, of which 2,025 were hospitalized.
“Due to the fact that for almost three years there was a very intensive vaccination and at the same time a lot of people got sick, immunity has certainly increased. This does not mean that people will not get sick. And those who have been ill, and even those who have been vaccinated, can become infected again,” Melita Vujinovich, the official representative of the Health Organization (WHO) in the Russian Federation, told TASS.
Earlier, WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus announced the end of the COVID-19 emergency regime in force since 2020 in the world.
