On May 16, the First Festival of Cultures of the Peoples of the World “Day of Intercultural Dialogue” took place at MSHEU. Students from 23 countries and representatives of 30 ethnic groups study at the university. Over the years of study, MSHEU becomes a home for them and a place where students find a second family and friends for life. For the university community, issues related to the study of ethnoculture, immersion in an intercultural environment are extremely important.
Dmitry Valerievich Polikanov, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo), sent a welcoming speech to the university. “MSHEU is a multinational, distinctive educational institution of higher education. In modern Russian society, culture is the most important source and carrier of the values of society. The world has become global, humanity is diverse and multifaceted. And we all need to communicate, negotiate. This is possible only if there is a constant intercultural dialogue. Therefore, it is important for everyone in our time to know the diversity of cultural differences and the basics of intercultural communication,” Dmitry Valerievich said.
The festival was opened by Tatiana Evgenievna Ageicheva, Vice–Rector for Youth Policy at MSHEU. “Thanks to the development of intercultural dialogue, the diversity of cultures becomes a source of mutual spiritual enrichment, contributes to the strengthening of mutual understanding. This is what is so important to every person in the modern world,” Tatiana Evgenievna emphasized.
Alexander Vyacheslavovich Golovnev, a teacher of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology, curator of fellowships of the Moscow State Pedagogical University, also welcomed the participants of the festival.
The festival program included national songs and dances: through artistic creativity, participants presented Russian, Tatar, Tajik, Moldovan, Mongolian, Korean, Egyptian, Turkish, Azerbaijani culture. Students Anastasia Nevskaya, Islyam Kadyrov, Takhmina Ibragimova, Valeria Malnikova, Baigal Tsedevsuren, Sevinch Filimonova, Ksenia Zolozhkova, Ulyana Grebenshchikova, Kirill Galinevsky, Kenan Atayev, Maryam Aliyeva, Angelina Nikitina, Victoria Medovaya performed on the stage. The hosts of the event were Anna Petrenko and Baigal Tsedevsuren.
Within the framework of the festival, an art exhibition “Unity in Diversity” was presented, dedicated to the cultures of the world. Participants and guests also got acquainted with the national dishes of different countries.
