On November 4, MGGEU traditionally celebrates the National Unity Day. It is a special day for the University as MGGEU students represent different nationalities displaying amity, harmony and peaceful coexistence.
On November 2, MGGEU assembly hall hosted a festive concert dedicated to the National Unity Day. Many students had an opportunity to demonstrate different national traditions in creative performances in their alma mater. The concert was opened by the speech of Vagif Bayramov, MGGEU Rector, the man whose efforts helped to bring together people of different nations and cultures within the walls of our university. He emphasized the relevance and significance of the holiday for Russia, spoke about national diversity of the country. Lyudmila Kulemina, Associate Professor, Candidate of Philosophy, highlighted the history of the holiday.
The main concert program consisted of performances from students and teachers. Songs in national languages and folklore dances were performed, poems of national poets were recited, and stories about the national identity of people were told. The participants demonstrated their talents which delighted the audience. Representatives of different cultures performed one after another on stage: Anna Solodovnik sang a song in Ukrainian, students from Georgia, Uzbekistan and Belarus impressed everybody with beautiful folk dances, and artists from Kalmykia introduced the cultural traditions of their republic. Grigory Vakku, Associate Professor, Candidate of Philological Sciences surprised the gathered with his performing skills. Guests from Chuvashia Elena Solovyova, honored Artist of the Republic, and Valentina Talley, a singer, the International competitions Grand Prix winner were also invited to visit the celebration. The audience made an imaginative journey to different parts of our vast Motherland and neighboring countries, they sincerely rejoiced and vigorously applauded.
The event was crowned with the appearance of all the participants of the event on stage, which clearly demonstrated the unity that frames the concept of this beautiful holiday. We hope that the great tradition will continue.
